Carlos Cantina

Remember this? This is was back on 8 February.

"Im both tired and depressed at the same time. This is not my first time doing business with the typical Malay businessman who believes in perspective over substance. In any event, we have a outdoor concept "hawker style" restaurant that is open 24 hours a day and Im doing my best."

After losing staff, my staff not getting paid, endless complaints, failure to receive supplies it is time to jump off the ship and find some way to get an investor and go on my own.

For those of you not familiar with an Asian "hawker style" restaurant, allow me to explain. Basically you have one master tenant who sublets stalls and/or kitchens to several people cooking a variety of food. Mine was the Tex-Mex food and business was great while it lasted. Im the only one that made money and now it is over.

The master tenants have run out of money and can't even keep the place afloat anymore. They can't even purchase food. Imagine running a place without food to sell. Waiters and waitresses have been quitting and leaving on a daily basis with no chance of recovering their salary and not one has even been given an appointment letter. Why I stepped in to appeal to the owners on behalf of the staff with regards to their pay and why they have not been given any appointment letters, they laughed and said "Why give them appointment letters? So they can sue us?" Well, Im sorry, this is just not my way of doing business.

So it would seem the only chance to get things afloat is to turn the place into an afterhours beer garden and sell alcohol 24 hours a day without a license, and run the thing illegally until the authorities manage to shut it down.

And the irony of the entire thing? The official opening ceremony is this Saturday at 8pm and will be opened by Y.B. Tan Sri Haji Mohd Isa b. Dato' Haji Abdul Samad the Government Minister for Wilayah Persekutuan.

If he only knew.
