Obama's Messianic Foreign Policy

In a recent response to the circulation of a photograph of Barack Obama dressed in what has been described as "traditional Somali garb" Obama's foreign policy adviser, Susan Rice, said that the circulation of the photograph was divisive and suggested "that the customs and cultures of other parts of the world are worthy of ridicule or condemnation."

The statement, of course, begs the question "Are some customs and cultures of other parts of the world in fact worthy of ridicule or condemnation?" Being bolstered by the certainties of my own "expatriate empiricism", my first reaction was simply to say to myself "yeah and so what?" I mean despite the political incorrectness, the harsh reality is that some of the customs and cultures of other parts of the world are in fact worthy of our ridicule or/and condemnation.

I don't suppose Susan Rice has ever come face to face with the proclivities of a cultural who experience no moral dilemma with beating their wives to within an inch of their lives or with customs of a primitive society who to this very day still dine on the occasional "long pig". But you see, this is where expatriate empiricism trumps not just the liberal academic intelligentsia of the West but the profound intellectual arrogance of Barack Obama's ivy-league foreign policy advisers.

Aside from the fact that the photographs of Barack Obama in of themselves never actually "said" or "suggested" anything, it was Susan Rice's recondite statement concerning the photograph that I found confounding. Not just because Susan Rice's statement and vociferous indignation seemed to be completely devoid of any literal meaning, or attributed to any logical thought process, but because I question how a foreign policy adviser who subscribes to the doctrine of cultural and moral equivalency can effectively advise the Presidency on issues that concern not only nation's interests, but our national security as well.

"Why must we change and yet our enemies get to remain the same? Don't ever expect to hear the Obama camp ever answer that question. The harsh reality is that for Barack Obama and his foreign policy advisers, this isn't about what is in America's best interests or even our nation's national security. It is about America changing and seeking atonement by redressing the sins of the past. Led by an administration who is predisposed to see America not as an exceptional nation, but as a bully, a war-mongering ogre, perpetually bloodied with the guilt of imperialism and inescapably tainted by a past history of inequality and racism.

Understanding Obama and his foreign policy

As Spengler would so adroitly point out, "Cherchez la femme" - When you want to uncover an unspecified secret, look for the woman. As Mona Charen would uncover in Obama's own book he inadvertently sheds some light on his formative years and the political views of his mother.

"Looking back, I'm not sure Lolo ever fully understood what my mother was going through ... why the things he was working so hard to provide for her seemed only to increase the distance between them ... He landed a job in the government relations department of an American oil company. ... Sometimes I would overhear him and my mother arguing in their bedroom, usually about her refusal to attend his company dinner parties, where American businessmen from Texas and Louisiana would slap Lolo's back and boast about the palms they had greased to obtain the new offshore drilling rights, while their wives complained to my mother about the quality of Indonesian help. He would ask her how it would look for him to go alone, and remind her that these were her own people, and my mother's voice would rise to almost a shout."

"They are not my people!"

Herodotus once said that "If anyone, no matter who, were given the opportunity of choosing from amongst all the nations in the world the set of beliefs which he thought best, he would inevitably - after careful considerations of their relative merits - choose that of his own country"

A young mulatto abandoned by his black Kenyan father and cared for by his white American mother, an anthropologist and Islamophile who hated America and subsequently went native. We may never completely understand the pathological self-criticism that Obama holds deep down in his soul, the overwhelming guilt that consumes him or the messianic aspirations that he now seems to revel in.

What we do know is that in Plato's Euthyphro, Socrates would advance argument that piety to many gods, who all want conflicting devotions is impossible. Something the Democrats and their Golden Calf have yet to realize.

  1. Young Barry must not have known where his own loyalties should lie. He seemed sympathetic to Lolo's efforts and antagonistic to his mother's anger, yet he clearly disdained the attitudes of the businessmen and their wives.

He was raised in a "household" riven with hatred and guilt about America. An inauspicious start of a presidential hopeful. No wonder he doesn't seem to know how to characterize the US except in vague, gauzy terms of some future state. He hates the country as it is today.

  2. What is your point here, nor only this particular post but your entire blog? I have read much of your blog and find nothing but condemnation for Obama and the points he has put forth. I have also found contradictory angles in how you are trying to deconstruct Obama. I just do not understand the message you are trying to convey.

Your disdain for liberal democrats is evident in how they see the rest of the world, but in my country (yes, not using "our" was deliberate, since I know nothing of your history and from the drivel I have read, I question your patriotism), our constant struggle with our internal conflicts is what raises our standing. We try some things for a few years and when that fails, we try something else.

We have had a very nationalist governing body for the last 7 years and look where that as gotten us. So sure, let's continue propagating our needs, desires, policies onto the rest of the world and be damned the cost.

At the moment, the people of this country have 3 choices for our leader over the next 4 years. I cannot tolerate a further extension of the Cheney/Bush policies; therefore, I am left with a choice of either Clinton or Obama. Clinton: I know what I am getting and can live with that, if necessary. Obama: I know comes with inherent risk, but the potential upside trumps the risk. His message of transparency in government is not only to be applauded, but cheered to no end. He has already made steps in that direction. If he fails miserably, than we will elect a new leader in four years. It is not like we live in anyway a dictatorial regime and our President's rule becomes the absolute rule of the land. If his policies are despised, we will have four years of gridlock and nothing gets done, not much different than the Carter administration. To me, the risk is worth the possible reward.

Now on to one last thing. Your incessant claims of Obama as a muslim. Your claims are that because he may have studied Islam (devotedly) from the years of 6 to 10, he is a Muslim. He must now have inner demons that will dog him throughout his life. Wow, you are really stretching the bounds of logic. I can infer from this that if you chose to share those years from your own life (which I challenge you to do...though being a blogger, the temptation to exaggerate or even out right lie makes this challenge utterly useless), that is all I would need to know about You to understand the type of person you are today. That I would also be able to project what decisions you will make and beliefs you hold true today. Sir, I must question your sanity on this. Your hyperbole knows no bounds. You choose not to even share which candidate you support. This blog is absurd!

  3. Obama converted at the age of 27, that is well beyond teenhood. To all intents and purpose from the muslim point of view, he is still a muslim.

His `flock` member, the Mahdi Obama, believes Israel should be divided:
Obama supports Palestinian state cutting Israel in half
    http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12601.htm

Which is one big reason for muslims to not call for lopping off his head.
The second, is CAIR`s aspiration for a green flag of the US of A.

So the word for this is Taqiya - as the Mahdi should be conversant with.

  5. Egyptian Arabs tell American tourists that they are confused about why America is so interested in voting for a Muslim to become President of the USofA. Israelis ask American tourists if America understands that Obama is a Muslim. It is only in the USofA that ignorance abounds.

And to say that Obama 'converted' when he started attending Jeremiah Wright's church is to beg the point. The UCC is not a mainstream American church and it is definitely not practicing the Christianity of the Canon. Its practices are more in line with Islam/CAIR than with Christianity. Barry Obama is 1/2 Caucasian, 7/16 Arab and 1/16 African. That alone makes him an Arab-American, not an African-American. And there's your first display of re-writing history.

    Adonai Elohenu, Adonai Echad.

  6. ratdog whines like the useless libtard that he is: "Your disdain for liberal democrats is evident in how they see the rest of the world, but in my country (yes, not using "our" was deliberate, since I know nothing of your history and from the drivel I have read, I question your patriotism), our constant struggle with our internal conflicts is what raises our standing. Nice of you ratdog to openly acknowledge your abysmal ignorance and your apparent pride in being so ignorant...

"I cannot tolerate a further extension of the Cheney/Bush policies"...

I see it now, you like the rest of the seditious, parasitic libtards the country is cursed with suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome but then again you've already acknowledged your ignorance...

"let's continue propagating our needs, desires, policies onto the rest of the world and be damned the cost"...

Its always amazing you seditious, parasitic libtards claim to worry about the opinion of the world...

Well screw the world and their collectively idiot ways...

You like the rest of the seditious, parasitic libtards are either ignorant or want to forget what the US has contributed to the world: The U.S. disbursed nearly $269 billion (in 2005 constant dollars) in development assistance between 1980 and 2005......

Maybe I should call a Wambulance for a loser like you, eh?
